I Rented a Camaro for a Day — Here's What Happened
We grabbed a Camaro from the rental lot and spent the day finding out if it lives up to the hype. Spoiler: yes.
Run by a Chevy Girl
Houston born. Virginia living. Chevy driving. This is where I talk about what I love — every Chevy I drive, every show I hit, every hot take I can't keep to myself.

Reviews, hot takes, culture, and pure Chevy chaos — all from one girl with a lot of opinions.

Everyone talks about the Silverado and the Corvette. Nobody gives the Tahoe the respect it deserves. Let me fix that.
I showed up to a Saturday cruise-in in Stafford, VA and found my people. Here's what went down.
Growing up in Houston, Chevys were everywhere — Impalas on swangas, Silverados in every driveway. It wasn't a choice, it was just how it was.
Shenandoah's most scenic stretch of road. A C8 Corvette. What could go wrong? We're planning it and I'm documenting every turn.
Every year someone asks me. Every year I give the same answer. Here it is in writing, with receipts, so we can stop having this conversation.

2024 Camaro SS — Rapid Blue — 6.2L V8 — One Very Good Day
Let me set the scene. It's a Tuesday. I show up to the rental counter fully expecting to walk out with a beige Nissan Altima and go on with my life. Instead, the guy behind the desk says they're out of midsize sedans and asks if I'd be okay with — and I quote — "something a little sportier." Reader, it was a 2024 Camaro SS in Rapid Blue. I said yes before he finished the sentence.
First impression the second you lay eyes on it in the lot: it's low. Like, actually low. Squatted, wide-shouldered, aggressive in a way that reads less "sports car" and more "I will absolutely do something your insurance doesn't cover." The Rapid Blue popped in the morning light — this deep metallic blue that shifts almost purple depending on the angle. I stood next to it for probably two minutes before I even got in.
Then I started it. Oh. The V8 fires up with this deep, rumbly exhale — not a scream, not a bark, just a confident growl that says I've been waiting. Pulling out of the lot, I kept the windows down even though it was a little chilly because I needed to hear every single thing going on under that hood. First corner at normal speed and the steering already feels connected and direct in a way my daily just doesn't. It's communicating with you. You can feel the road.
The best moment of the day came somewhere on a back highway with no one around. I got on it. Not stupid-fast, just — let it breathe. The exhaust opened up, the whole car flattened out, and for about ten seconds I completely understood why people build their lives around these things. It wasn't just speed. It was the whole experience: the sound, the pull, the way the seat is holding you while everything around you starts moving faster. That's the Camaro. It's theater and it's performance at the same time.
The interior is fine — nothing fancy, comfortable enough, visibility out the back is basically a joke (you're living by your mirrors), and the rear seat exists mostly as a conversation piece. But none of that matters because you're not buying this car for cargo room. You're buying it because sometimes you need life to feel a little bit alive.
Would I rent it again? Yes. Immediately. Without thinking about it. Would I want to own one? That's a conversation for another day, but I'll say this — it made my daily feel very boring on the drive back. That's the Camaro effect. It recalibrates you.
Crystal's Verdict
"Made me feel like a different person.
Would rent again. No hesitation."

The daily, the next rental target, and the truck I think about way too often.

The ride-or-die. Does everything, complains about nothing. Gets me where I'm going and looks good doing it.
Skyline Drive in Shenandoah. Mid-engine. Winding mountain roads. April 18th. I'm not ready but I'm doing it.
